On January 8,2021, the China Civil Engineering Group and the Tanzania National Railway Company signed a contract for the Ithaca-Mwanza section of the Tanzania Central Line Standard Gauge Railway in Chato, with a contract value of US$1.326 billion (approximately RMB 8.578 billion). Tanzanian President Magufuli attended and witnessed the signing ceremony. There are two railways in Tanzania. One is the Tanzania-Zambia Railway, which connects Tanzania and Zambia and is regarded as the “Road of Friendship” and the “Road of Freedom”; Wired meter gauge railway. The central line standard gauge railway signed this time is parallel to the existing line meter gauge railway and is a modern standard gauge railway.
