On anuary 13th,2021, the engineering prototype vehicle moved slowly on the test line in Chengdu. This is the world's first high-temperature superconducting high-speed maglev engineering prototype and test line, which is independently developed and designed by in-house, officially opened. The design speed is 620 kilometers per hour, marking the realization of the annual high-temperature superconducting high-speed maglev engineering research from scratch to breakthrough.

The high-temperature superconducting high-speed maglev engineering prototype and test line project is located in the State Key Laboratory of Traction Power of Southwest Jiaotong University. The verification section is 165 meters away. It is jointly researched and developed by Southwest Jiaotong University, CRRC, China Railway and other units. According to Wu Zili, a senior engineer at Jiaotong University Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., the prototype adopts a full carbon fiber lightweight body, a low-friction head type, a large-load high-temperature superconducting maglev technology and other new technologies and new processes. The design speed is expected to be 620 per hour, which is expected to be created in A new record for the speed of land traffic in an atmospheric environment.
